Connect to WILI-S based Devices
From wiliGear wiki
The first connection to the WILI-S based device can be made using serial console or connecting via wireless or WAN interfaces. See next sections for the instructions on how to access the WILI-S based device management interfaces.
Using WAN Connection
As the WILI-S based device acts as a DHCP client on WAN interface by default, the local DHCP server will provide the IP address. If there is no DHCP server running on your network, the WILI-S based device will respond to the static IP address 192.168.2.66. Use the following procedure to access the WILI-S based device Web management pages via WAN interface assuming that DHCP server is not running on your network.
Step 1 Configure your PC with a static IP address on the 192.168.2.0 subnet with mask 255.255.255.0. Connect the WILI-S based device WAN interface in to the same physical network as your PC. Open the Web browser and type the default IP address of the WILI-S based device: https://192.168.2.66/
| | If the DHCP server is running on your network then enter IP address provided by the DHCP server to the Web browser. For example if DHCP server is leasing IP addresses in range 192.168.8.24-192.168.8.124. Lets assume that DHCP server leased 192.168.8.28 IP addresses to WILI-S based device (can be verified by a MAC address in server log files) and URL becomes then: https://192.168.8.28 |
Step 2 Enter the WILI-S based device administrator login details to access the Web management:
| | The default administrator login settings for all WILI-S interfaces are admin/admin01 |
Step 3 After successful administrator log on you will see the main page of the WILI-S device Web management interface. The WILI-S device now is ready for configuration. For further instructions on Web management refer to the respective document WILI-CORE Skin User Guide (or the document of the Skin you are using).
Using Wireless LAN Connection
By default the WILI-S based device runs a DHCP server on WLAN interface and can assign the IP address to the wireless client stations. Use the following procedure to access the WILI-S based device Web management pages via wireless interface. All installation steps refer to the users using Windows XP and other Windows versions accordingly assuming that wireless networking device is already installed on the computer.
Step 1 Connect the power adapter to the WILI-S based device.
Step 2 Connect one Ethernet patch cable to the WAN port of the WILI-S based device and the other to an Ethernet port of your broadband Internet modem or router.
Step 3 Setup wireless network adapter on your computer (Go to Start->Settings->Network Connections->Right click on Wireless Network Connection associated with the wireless adapter) by selecting Properties:
Step 4 Setup the wireless network adapter’s IP address (choose Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties):
Step 5 Setup the wireless network adapter to obtain an IP address automatically or assign the wireless client static IP address manually within 192.168.4.2-192.168.4.254 address range.
Step 6 Enable the wireless network connection:
Step 7 Choose the wireless device with default SSID WILI-S from the list of available wireless network:
Step 8 Open the Web browser and type the WILI device default IP address of wireless interface https://192.168.4.1. After the connection is established, you will see the WILI-S Web User Interface.
Step 9 Enter the WILI-S based device administrator login details to access the Web management:
| | The default administrator login settings for all WILI-S interfaces are admin/admin01 |
Step 10 After successful administrator log on you will see the main page of the WILI-S device Web management interface. The WILI-S device now is ready for configuration. For further instructions on Web management refer to the respective document WILI-CORE Skin User Guide (or the document of the Skin you are using).
Using Serial Console Connection
Use the following procedure to access the WILI-S based device using the serial connection cable.
Step 1 Connect the power adapter to the WILI-S based device.
Step 2 Connect the device to your management terminal using the serial connection cable and start a terminal session (using an application such as HyperTerminal) with the following settings:
| Bits per second | 115200 |
| Data bits | 8 |
| Parity | None |
| Stop bits | 1 |
| Flow control | None |
Step 3 If connected correctly the login prompt appears allowing you to enter the administrator’s login and password:
| | The default administrator login settings for all WILI-S interfaces are admin/admin01 |
Step 4 Enter the default login credentials and you will be successfully logged in the WILI-S based device CLI management interface:
| | For further instructions on CLI management refer to the respective document Command Line Interface Management. |
